Before leaving Bahla, you will visit one of the potteries for which Bahla is famous. Nearby 17th century Jabreen Castle stands as a witness of the prosperity and flourishing economy of the area. It also was the centre of education for studies such as astronomy, medicine, history and law. On the way to the beautiful mountain village of Misfat Al Abriyeen, you will pass by a few beautiful old villages. You will walk through the lush green plantations of Misfat Al Abriyeen and learn about the centuries old falaj irrigation system. The journey continues to Jebel Shams and Oman’s breathtaking canyon. Day 3: Jebel Shams Grand Canyon, Bat, Al Ayn, Salut

Often early morning, the rays of the sunlight leave a silvery shine over the dense clouds that fill the canyon, which creates a stark contrast to the surrounding dark cliffs. On the program today are the archaeological sites of Wadi Al Ayn, Bat and Salut.  Both Al Ayn and Bat are necropolis with beehive tombs dating back to the 3rd BC. In Salut you will visit the archaeological site of the settlement and castle, dating back to the bronze and iron age. After lunch in these beautiful surroundings, return to Muscat.

Please note that the program may have to be changed last minute, in case e.g. of bad weather conditions or unforeseeable opening hours or other circumstances.
